The Dispatcher will provide support to our various drivers (Linehaul, Local and Container drivers) and be the key person for ensuring the equipment's are properly executed such as providing paperwork.
Assisting all drivers on their board during their shift will include tasks such as following up with drivers, assisting with accurately updating their location and on-time arrivals, managing their punctuality and providing as-needed support such as coordinating service for any equipment issues which may arise.
Absolute Must:
Must have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
Must possess good negotiation skills and excellent judgment
Must have excellent customer service skills, a strong work ethic with exception interpersonal skills
Requirements:
Connect with drivers; ensure they’re following instructions and routes as assigned from day dispatch team.
Follow up with drivers to ensure they’re updating their status, and are on-schedule
Assist with coordinating service of equipment if needed for incidents such as breakdowns or accidents
Update driver information such as equipment assignment and driver status accurately in the TMS (transportation management system).
Ensuring all work is accurately entered and managed in the TMS (driver trip progress and closing trips).
Schedule agency drivers efficiently, resulting in the reduction/elimination of non-revenue hours, empty miles and an increase in driver productivity
Identify performance issues and communicate operational needs with Dispatch Manager
Update spreadsheets as needed to accurately capture data of daily tasks
Manage and direct all incoming inquiries through the dispatch telephone lines to ensure a clear, efficient flow of information to the appropriate people
Be the front line contact for drivers regarding scheduling and work availability
Coordinate and communicate with appropriate departments the maintenance if needed
Assign equipment to upcoming runs to ensure all of our customer’s needs will be met
Communicate with drivers to ensure that appointment delivery times are met
Monitor special driver requirements for each site to ensure they are being adhered to
Report all driver absences and tardiness to the Manager
Ensure proper placement of trailer pool to support customers’ daily requirements while maintaining costs
Customer reporting and tracking spreadsheets as required
Assist in the dispatching of drivers as required to perform other duties as assigned by the reporting manager
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, attention to detail under tight deadlines
Ideally:
Must have excellent Communication Skills, Customer Service & Interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Transportation Plus TMS would be an asset
Intermediate Excel skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Be willing to work in a fast paced environment
Must be able to handle high volume of paper work
Must be responsible and reliable
Must be able to work independently, and as a team player
Business / Accounting Educational background, or related work experience
